Snowy, the super bear
Snowy, the super bear

Buying your kid a new toy?

I guess besides price, it would be how long they will love it? You want to make sure they do not want it now and drop it the next minute, right?

One thing to do before buying it for them is the use of reward system. Accumulate 10 good thumbs will grant them a price of your choice.

The process of “your choice” is actually their choice of what they wanted. Through discussions and observations, you will discover what they want. For an instance, my daughter usually likes animal kind of dolls. One day I was with her in a toy shop, she found out a white teddy bear which cost more than she should ask for. I told her if she got 10 thumb stamps and if she still wants it by that time, we will talk about it then.

The art of austerity training

Obviously, I did not give out an easy task for her to get those 10 stamps. However, she was determined to have it and showed me she was for real. Now Snowy is at home and the rest was history.

Through the hardship I gave her, she will treasure and appreciate her toy more. It is just I do not understand why loves Snowy so much. It is just an animal plush toy with a pair of big circle eyes… In my opinion, it is just look like a miniature cartoon polar bear and not so special. I was betting that she will drop out less than a year... and guess what Snowy is 2 years old. Yes, she got this toy bear for 2 years and still loves it so much!

My daughter said Snowy can only pronounces simple sentences and words. I asked her how she was looked like when she was a few months old.

She gave me this pic below when I returned from my shower. It is holding a crystal my girl likes, little bit of hair on the top of head and also got a diaper. Isn’t it cuter? I am happy that she was serious and showing me this baby bear is a worth to buy toy for another year to come.
